The ground rules for using this site

The short version

k8mak.com is run by Kate Makrigiannis, one person, not a company. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

Use the site and its free tools for your own work. Do not break it, abuse it, or pass my work off as yours. The tools are offered as is, so check anything that matters before you act on it.

Using the site

You are welcome to use the site for personal and professional purposes. Please do not:

• Scrape, crawl, or hammer the site or its APIs with automated traffic without asking first.
• Try to get into admin pages, other people’s data, or anything that is not meant for you.
• Use any form or tool to send spam, malware, or abuse.
• Pretend to be someone you are not when you contact me or submit something.

I can block access for anyone who does these things.

The free apps and tools

The apps here are free and offered as is. I build and maintain them myself, so I can change, pause, or retire any of them without notice.

Many of them save your data only in your own browser. That keeps it private, but it also means clearing your browser storage or switching devices can lose it. Export or back up anything you would hate to lose.

The calculators, assessments, and guides are educational. They are not legal, tax, financial, medical, or other professional advice, and they cannot know your full situation. Check the numbers before you rely on them.

Tools that use AI

Some tools send what you type to an AI model to write a response, such as a synthesis, a rubric, or a suggestion. The model can be wrong, incomplete, or confidently off. Read what it gives you with a critical eye and decide for yourself.

Do not paste anything confidential, anything you do not have the right to share, or anyone else’s personal information into these tools.

Signing in

A few apps offer an optional sign-in so your saved data follows you across your own devices. Keep your sign-in secure, and tell me if you think someone else has used it. I can close an account that is used to break these terms.

Giving me your email

If you give me your email for updates, a waitlist, or a reminder, I will use it for that and nothing else. Every email gives you a way out, or you can ask me to remove you at any time.

What you send in

Some tools let you submit feedback, a story, or other writing. You keep ownership of what you write. By submitting it, you give me permission to store it, and, where the tool says it will be shown, to display and edit it for length or clarity on the site.

Only send things you have the right to share, and do not include other people’s private details. I can decline or remove any submission.

Buying something

If you buy something through the site, checkout is handled by Lemon Squeezy, not by me. I never see or store your card details. Their terms apply to the payment as well as these.

What you buy is licensed for your own use. Please do not resell or redistribute it.

Consulting work

If we work together, that engagement is governed by its own agreement. Where that agreement and these terms disagree, the agreement wins.

My work

The writing, tools, templates, code, and design on k8mak.com are mine unless I say otherwise. You can use the free material in your own work. Please do not republish it, resell it, or present it as your own. A link back is always welcome.

Third-party names, frameworks, and references belong to their owners and are credited where they appear.

No guarantees

The site and everything on it are provided as is, without warranties of any kind. I do my best to keep things accurate and running, but I cannot promise the site will be error-free, always available, or right for your situation.

To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for losses that come from using the site or its tools, including lost data, lost revenue, or decisions made on the strength of something you read or calculated here.

If something goes wrong

Talk to me first. Most problems get solved with an email, and I would much rather fix something than argue about it.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms as the site changes. When I do, I will change the date at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after an update, the new terms apply.
