A former Soviet soldier who operates the Flame station for the Others. Seemingly indestructible, he survives multiple apparent deaths before his final act. His refusal to stay dead became a running joke among fans and cast alike.

Trivia
- Andrew Divoff's glass eye prop, which Mikhail wears over his missing right eye, was found by the survivors in the Arrow station before Mikhail was introduced.
- Mikhail survives the sonar fence, a spear gun to the chest, and other injuries before finally dying via his own grenade -- fans dubbed him "the cockroach."
- His name is a reference to the Russian anarchist philosopher Mikhail Bakunin.
