Jack and Kate's relationship is defined by push and pull. Jack sees Kate as someone worth saving, but Kate resists being saved. Their romance is complicated by Sawyer, who offers Kate freedom from judgment where Jack offers stability and expectation. Off the Island, they briefly have the life Jack always wanted -- but Kate can't stay away, and Jack can't let go. Their final scene together on the Island is one of the series' most emotional moments: Kate tells Jack she loves him, and Jack dies knowing he was loved.
