The iconic split-leaf climber. Forgiving, fast, and dramatic in bright indirect light.
The free tool tailors timing to your climate and lets you save this plant.
Bright, indirect
A few feet back from an east or north window, or near a bright south/west window with the harsh midday sun filtered. Give it room and a moss pole to climb.
Every 1–2 weeks, less in winter. Drooping or no new growth usually means thirsty; yellowing usually means too wet.
Chunky, well-draining aroid mix: potting soil with orchid bark, perlite, and a little coco coir.
Any pot with a drainage hole; terracotta if you tend to overwater.
Every 2 years, or when roots circle the pot or poke out the drainage hole. Repot in spring.
Cut just below a node (the bump where a leaf and aerial root meet). Root in water 4–6 weeks, then pot up. A cutting without a node will not grow.
Toxic to pets if eaten.
