Low light
Anywhere from low light to bright indirect. Avoids only deep dark corners long-term. Perfect for bedrooms and offices.
Every 2–4 weeks in summer, monthly or less in winter. Overwatering is the only real way to kill it.
Fast-draining cactus or succulent mix.
Terracotta strongly preferred, with drainage. Snug pots are fine.
Every 2–3 years, or when it cracks the pot. It likes being root-bound.
Divide the rhizome when repotting, or cut a leaf into sections and let them callus before planting. Note: variegated types lose their stripe from leaf cuttings, so divide instead.
Toxic to pets if eaten.
