18–24 in apart, 24–30 in between rows. Stake taller varieties to keep heavy branches from snapping.
Rich, well-draining soil with steady moisture; pH 6.0–6.8. Avoid high nitrogen, which grows leaves at the expense of fruit.
Even, deep watering of about 1–2 in/week. Let the top inch dry between waterings; soggy roots stunt the plant and drop blossoms.
May – Jun
Jul – Oct
