Rich, well-draining soil with compost; pH 5.5–6.5.
Even 1–1.5 in/week, especially as fruit swells. Mulch to keep the shallow roots cool.

Plant dormant canes in spring and give them a trellis. Summer-bearers fruit on second-year canes (prune those out after fruiting); fall-bearers fruit on new canes and can be mown to the ground each winter. Suckers spread, so contain the patch.
Good with Garlic, Marigold. Keep apart from Potato, Tomato, Eggplant.
