12–18 in apart, rows 3–4 ft apart to leave room for runners.
Rich, well-draining soil with compost; slightly acidic, pH 5.5–6.8. Raised beds keep the crowns from rotting.
Consistent 1–1.5 in/week, especially as fruit forms. Water at the base to keep the berries dry and prevent rot.

Plant crowns with the crown at soil level, not buried. It spreads by runners, pin them into soil to root new plants, then cut them free. Renew the bed every 3–4 years.
Good with Bush bean, Lettuce, Spinach, Borage. Keep apart from Brassicas (cabbage, broccoli).
