Loose, slightly acidic soil; pH 5.0–6.0 helps prevent scab. Avoid fresh manure.
Even 1–2 in/week, heaviest while tubers bulk up after flowering. Stop once tops yellow.

Plant seed-potato pieces (each with an eye) a couple weeks before last frost. Hill soil or mulch over the stems as they grow to cover developing tubers. Dig new potatoes after flowering; let the rest cure as the tops die back for storage.
Good with Bush bean, Corn, Marigold, Horseradish. Keep apart from Tomato, Cucumber, Squash, Pumpkin.
