Kate Makrigiannis
Product Strategy Leader | Healthtech, Defense & Enterprise

Summary
From rocket launches to hormone health - I help product teams find clarity in complex, regulated environments where getting it wrong has real consequences since before remote was the default, before every company had an AI strategy, before "product-led" was a LinkedIn buzzword. Fourteen years of walking into messy situations with smart people, good intentions, and no shared picture of what they're actually building. I name what's happening, build just enough structure to get people moving, and stay until the work is self-sustaining.
→ Cut Space Force MVP cycles from 6 months to 2 weeks by bringing continuous discovery to defense software teams
→ Coached 70+ product teams at Kaiser Permanente through an org-wide shift to outcome-driven delivery
→ Built a menopause symptom engine covering 150+ symptoms as fractional Director of Product at FLUXX Health
→ Took a HIPAA-compliant wellness platform from zero to 60% patient adherence in 4 months at Sperity

The Journey
Era by era
One timeline, start to finish. Every role I held, what I was studying and mentoring alongside it, and how it actually felt to live through each chapter. The left track is what was on the business card; the right track is what I was learning and moonlighting on at the same time.
Roles
Learning, mentoring, side hustles
Before tech, the foundation: B&B hospitality and marketing work, on the heels of theatre productions and service jobs through school. This is where a theatre kid first discovered she loved digital and marketing, and where the work ethic and people-first instincts that still hold got their start.

I had an awesome time working with Zendesk's Platform product teams, giving customers ways to weave their crucial business data into Support workflows to help agents resolve tickets even faster. It was so cool to see how different product verticals across the company operated (Support, Voice, Chat, Sell) - quite a few teams, each with shared or connected goals.
Once the pandemic hit and I had moved to an in-house product role, I got antsy to get back out there to help clients. I joined the Toptal consulting network to begin my own freelance Product engagements (with B Lab), and I started Product Manager and UX Design mentorship and career coaching. I love getting to nerd out about Product stuff with cool people.
I also took my first-ever paid interview assignment: prioritizing a product roadmap at a developer webtools startup (Gatsby/Netlify), where I led discovery, interviews, and pricing strategy.
